Winnow & Nook

Therapy & Consultation
A warm, non-judgmental space where you can navigate life’s challenges with support, curiosity, and a touch of humor.

About Winnow & Nook

In therapy, “winnow” means sorting through everything going on in your life to find the core issues or goals that really matter. It's like sifting through all the noise to figure out what's worth focusing on so that your energy goes to the things that will actually make a difference.

Winnowing can help us get to the heart of things, allowing for more meaningful process. It’s about making therapy feel focused, relevant, and impactful.

In therapy, a "nook" is like a safe, cozy corner within yourself and between us where you can go to feel grounded and explore your feelings without judgment. It’s a space where you feel secure enough to open up and look at those parts of your life that might feel vulnerable or hidden.

Creating this nook is all about fostering a sense of safety and warmth, so you can work through challenges with a bit of comfort and support. It’s your personal retreat for self-reflection and growth.

Hi there, I'm Lindsey

I'm Lindsey, a registered social worker with a passion for helping folks navigate life’s twists and turns from a comfy, non-judgmental "blanket fort of support".

Rooted in social work values and anti-oppressive practice, I work to hold a space where social justice, equity, and human kindness are at the heart of every session.

Think of me as your therapy guide with a healthy dose of curiosity and quirk, who values your story and the unique strengths you bring. I'm here to listen, understand, and, when the moment calls for it, throw in the occasional pop culture reference if it helps!

*Registered with Nova Scotia College of Social Work (Reg.# 8946) as Clinical Specialist (Provisional) and as a virtual practitioner with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (Reg.# 855925).

Whether you’re unpacking life’s challenges, navigating relationships, or just needing a space to be fully you—I’m here, comfy burrito blanket and all.

Winnow & Nook Services

I offer individual counseling sessions over phone (via video link but we don’t have to turn our cameras on) or video, designed to meet you where you are and fit seamlessly into your schedule.

Each session provides a supportive, non-judgmental space to work through challenges like anxiety, depression, workplace stress, and relationship dynamics. My approach is strengths-based and compassionate, aiming to support you in building resilience, navigating life transitions, and fostering post-traumatic growth.

I conduct sessions in a private office space in my home, using sound-proof headphones to ensure clear communication. Your privacy and confidentiality are my top priorities. While you may occasionally hear my dogs in the background, rest assured, our sessions are completely private.

To help us decide if we’re a good match, I also provide a free, 15-minute phone consultation where you can ask questions and get a feel for my approach. To book one of these please mail me directly.

Whether you're working through grief, stress, behavior change, or just looking to strengthen self-worth and emotional intelligence, I’m here to support you in making meaningful progress on your journey.

Insurance

Therapy isn’t covered by provincial health insurance but may be reimbursed through private plans. Clients are responsible for checking their policy details, including coverage limits and whether a physician’s referral is required.
I currently do not offer direct billing to insurance companies. Payment is required upfront, after which you'll receive a receipt to submit for insurance reimbursement or for tax purposes
